We are pleased to announce that we have decided to make the current version of the Frameline application FREEWARE. We hope to get a service release organised in the new year, and then possibly release V 3.3 via the new OSX App store at the much lower price and increased exposure that this channel affords.
The application is doing very well in a number of large institutions, and showing great promise processing media and data for Duraspace47, a digital archive platform.
Please follow this link for information on getting a complimentary license code for frameline 3.2.1 breadcrumb.tv Look to the first comment for details.
I would like to thank everyone who has been so supportive, and apologise again to those who committed to the platform for these uncertain times. I am doing everything I can to try and find a way to continue to advance the project, and hope to bring more news in the new year.
Best regards and seasons greetings
James

End of current development
I am sorry to announce that active development on the application Frameline 47 has now ceased, and we have therefore decided that it is appropriate to withdraw the application from sale.
We have reached the end of our current development path, and to continue we must implement a new architecture: an undertaking currently beyond the resources of the company. We are therefore actively seeking partnership, funding, or third party takeover in order to continue with our innovative work. We apologise to our existing customers, we will do our best to continue to support you. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported the project.
The application will remain available for use, evaluation and collaboration, and for technical evaluation.
Please drop me a line if you have any further issues or questions in regard to this announcement.
Thanks
James

A great first week (with a few minor niggles)
We have had a great response to version 3.2, so a big thanks to everyone who has purchased the new version of the application this week - we have had our best week of sales since the project started.
A few minor issues have shown up however, mainly in regard to the built in esellerate purchase/licensing mechanism. Some users have reported being unable to register the product from the built-in esellerate store, and a number of users who had previously downloaded earlier versions of the application have been unable to get the new version up and running, seeing a 'Your Trial has now expired' dialogue.
As always we are working on fixing these few niggles, and will have an update available before too long.
Thanks again for the great response.

Version 3.2 now available...
Pleased to announce that after much delay version 3.2 is now finally available.
This new release of Frameline 47 features a completely re-written file scanning mechanism, which enables users to specify exactly which locations they wish to include or exclude in the scan. The application now finally enables full ‘finder’ type behaviors, such as drag and drop, and gets a new batch file management and tagging tool called ‘move’. The Capture tool also gets updated, enabling tagging and editing during capture. A lossless file splitting tool, shared annotation library, new export and import options, plus support for Snow Leopard complete the update.
Many thanks to the development team for all their hard work.

3.2 Beta 3 now available
Thanks for your patience, the final Beta of 3.2 is now available. Supporting OSX 10.4, 5 & 6 is taking its tole on development speed, and progress has been very slow. Still, the app is looking great, and we should be wrapping up development and releasing in the next month.

Version 3.2 now at Beta 1
Pleased to announce that Version 3.2 is now at Beta. This version features;
- Fully customisable indexing
- Full finder behaviour
- Customisable Places
- Split File Tool
- Metadata Auto-suggest (from a Collection data library)
- Move Tool with batch Collection tagging
- New Capture Tool with Segment naming and re-capture
- Quicktime batch reference Export & metadata inheritance
Beta 1 is not currently OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) compatible due to some issues we are having with the SQLite library, but we hope to have that fixed and a new Beta posted up soon.
If you would like to take 3.2 for a drive, the Beta is available from here.
We look forward to any feedback you may have.

Version 3.1.5 now available...
A small update: Version 3.1.5 adds a much improved 'match metadata' function together with an updated text export, a basic YouTube uploader and a few usability enhancements.
The revised match metadata function means that users who have existing shot logs can import this data into frameline without having to manually add the data - a massive time saving of course, and another 'barrier to entry' removed.

Safari 4 Beta issues
Unfortunately, our implementation of the esellerate API that we use in Frameline is not compatible with the new Safari 4 Beta (due to an updated webkit) This causes the application to crash on startup. We are now working to get this fixed, and will incorporate the fix into the imminent 3.1 update.

Human Rights Archive
Pleased to announce that we have been selected as software vendor by the Swiss Humen Institute for the creation of a humanities archive. The archive will consist of personal testimonies from over 100 persons who worked or are still working in the field during armed conflicts or natural calamities.
This rich material will be the core of a big audiovisual exhibition intended to be shown in major museums in Switzerland beginning in 2011. A light version of the exhibition is going to tour the country in small museums, school classes, community buildings and maybe abroad. This initiative build on a great success the same group of producers had some years ago collecting memories of persons having witnessed the Second World War.
We wish the team at Humen all the best with the project and are very much looking forward to working with them.

Version 3.1 news
We are now testing the Beta of Version 3.1 - its a really nice update that addresses quite a few usability issues and adds some general polish. Our new network functionality is taking more testing than we expected, with different wireless combinations proving laborious. We also have new background database updating functionality that is proving tricky to test.
For these reasons we will be postponing release till the end of January/early February to make sure we have everything ironed out.
Seasons greetings one and all : )

Version 3.0.3 now available...
We have just published an update to Frameline 47 which fixes a few minor (but important) issues with the database. Update recommended for all users.
We have also discovered that the Perian plug-in causes the initial install and scan process to take 15/20 times longer. Unfortunately we are not able to fix this without violating Apple guidelines, so we are now recommending that users deactivate this plug-in when first running the application.
Version 3.1 is coming on well and scheduled for release in January. Will post more information on this update soon.

'First Post'
Our users/partners/customers may be interested in knowing what is going on at Frameline HQ, what's cooking in development, our roadmap, and to answer questions like 'will I ever see Frameline 47 on an iPhone ?' So, we decided to start up a development blog for this purpose - and this is the first post.
Along with development news and plans, we also intend to reflect some of the feedback we receive, provide links and information on how people are using frameline, as well as providing news on any issues that are discovered/schedules for fixes etc.
We hope that you find this blog both useful and interesting.
Look forward to your feedback
James
ps: the answer would be yes
